Weiss-Aug’s corporate philosophy is that every Weiss-Aug team member is responsible for
quality. The entire company is processed mapped to develop value streams that allow for the
measurement of all key processes in the company. This process mapping, along with the metrics to measure these processes, develops a continuous improvement mindset throughout the company.

Process Highlights
Consistency – single digit PPMS in the last 5 years, including 2 years where the PPM was one or less. Weiss-Aug rates in the top 1% of the industry as far as quality delivered to our customer base.*
Quality Culture – The company puts its team members through basic and advanced problem
solving classes to promote the human factor in contributing to positive company performance. Through these classes principles of the Six Sigma Methodology are advanced. Problem solving is taught based upon the DM AIC model of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. The use of basic data gathering and data analysis tools are used such as: Graphs, Pareto charts, Cause & Effect Diagrams
(Ishikawa or Fishbone Diagrams), SPC or Control Charting, Capability Analysis (CpK, PpK), flow charting and distribution curves.
Technology – Weiss-Aug utilizes its trained team members by coupling them with the latest technology throughout the company, whether it is through use of its business systems and processes such as MK 8 to facilitate production planning through MR P and ER P systems or the machine technology used in the manufacturing process.
The company uses as the foundation of its quality management system (QMS) various standards
including AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) and the ISO/TS 16949 standards. Weiss-Aug is both ISO 9000-2008 and ISO/TS 16949-2009 certified through its registrar BVQI.
Equipment – Weiss-Aug has over 3,000 gages under its gage calibration system that are key in
measuring and monitoring its manufacturing processes. In order to maintain these gages, internal
certified labs as well as outside calibration houses certified to ISO 17025 or A2LA are utilized.
The calibration system is maintained by using Gage Pack EZ software. All measurement data for processes and product in manufacturing are done on a real time basis using QC Calc and/or Minitab software. The quality labs use an array of both standard measuring equipment and high technology computer driven contact and non contact measurement systems, data collection is both by sample and 100% detection systems. Standard equipment such as calipers and micrometers are interfaced
with the company network data base through RS 232 ports to provide real time measurement data.
Vision and Testing – Weiss-Aug uses non contact vision systems from Optical Gaging Products
(OG P: www.ogpnet.com) and Ram Optical.
• 8 OG P measuring systems used in the company today including 2 Smartscope Flash 500s that
incorporate vision (camera), laser and touch probe (CMM technology. Weiss-Aug also has several
Smartscope ZIP measuring systems.
• CMM technology from Zeiss
• On the manufacturing floor 100% in line measuring systems are used such as Otto, PPT and
Cognex to provide real time 100% inspection data
• Over 30 comparators from OG P, Deltronic, Mitutoyo and Nikon where data is loaded real time into
statistical software
Great people combined with the latest technology make up the Weiss-Aug Quality Management
System that delivers zero defects to our customers.
