Description:
-Provide engineering skills and services to continually improve the productivity and quality of all departments within the Company. Provide technical support and guidance for introducing new programs to the Company.
-Analyze existing processes using data and present proposals on improvements. Implement and verify acceptance of proposed improvements.
-Participate as a member of the ADPQP Project Team and the New Program Development/Quoting Team.
-Investigate and determine root cause(s) for internal and external complaints and/or quality rejections (DPD, DPA’s, 8D’s, DMR).
-Lead or participate in trouble shooting of existing and new processes.
-Create and maintain process documentation. Train personnel as it relates to process documentation and procedures.
-Participate in ISO/QS internal and external audits.
-Process data (layouts) for use in WEDM and CNC machining.
-Create and modify internal product drawings for inspection and other purposes.
-Design fixtures, gages and other custom tooling or equipment as required.
-Review customer drawings and specifications for manufacturing feasibility.
-Initiate and/or coordinate change control process (ECO) relating to Engineering documentation.
-Provide technical assistance to Tool room regarding tooling and process issues during die fabrication and debugging.
-Initiate and/or coordinate outsourced tooling work with qualified tooling subcontractors. Ensure accuracy, quality workmanship and on-time delivery of outsourced tooling components.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Education: |
BS degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
Equivalent experience in a hands-on technical position, such as Tool & Die Maker, may be considered as a substitute for degree. |
Experience: |
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing complex progressive stamping dies.
- Plastic injection/insert molding a plus.

Skills: |
- Proficient in Computer-Aided Design (CAD). At a minimum, must be familiar with at least one 2-D CAD design package (AutoCAD, SolidEdge, CadKey); however, 3-D experience is preferred (Solidworks, ProENGINEER).
- Demonstrated knowledge of metal stamping industry and practices.
- Knowledge of the following: Wire EDM and/or CNC machining technologies; tool steels and their applications; commonly stamped metals such as cold-rolled steels, stainless steels and copper-based alloys; insert molding process.
- Understanding of ANSI/ISO drawing standards. Knowledge of GD&T dimensioning preferred.
- Understanding of die sensors, vision inspection, and/or related technology is preferred.
- Basic understanding of the functioning of high speed stamping presses.
- Exceptional analytical and computational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
